Author's Diary September 2006 September 13, 2006 I'm back in New York. After a week at the Jersey Shore with my family for some cheesesteaks, salt water taffy and Mac and Manco's pizza (not to mention quality time with my parents and sister), Derin and I headed up to Manhattan for a few days. My biggest priority was meeting with my editor and the marketing and publicity team at Simon & Schuster about my book. Even though it is still more than six months before my book comes out, we talked about our plan for promoting the book, and I gave an update on all of the media experience I had gotten over the summer during my radio tours and television interviews for The Real Deal: Challenges. The meeting could not have gone better. I'm so excited to see that the whole team at S&S is enthusiastic about the book's potential, and that they are committed to putting a lot of energy behind promoting it. I also got to see the revised front and back cover of the book design, which looks amazing. |

Oh, and we also talked about the last two remaining profiles that I'm going to be including…a bookstore owner and an actor. I'm going to make those happen in the next few weeks. September 25, 2006 Holy intense week. I pushed ahead and got Michelle the first half of the manuscript with her requested revisions. It was a huge job. Among the things that I did was rewrite some of the sidebars, edit down some of the profiles for length, write some new lunchbreaks, and make some universal language changes throughout. I've pretty much been working nonstop for two weeks… from the moment I get up until late at night, save for taking Asher back and forth to preschool, having dinner with the family and spending a little downtime hanging out with my boy. But I am fried… that's for sure. And now I've got one more week of this to go…. wish me luck! back to top |
